Working parents should arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled start of
class to help setup projects and get instructions for the day.
|
| Greeting / Free Play |
Interact with children as they enter the room.
Choose any area to play with them and help them transition into their school day. |
| First Circle Time |
Help the children come to circle time. You may sit with
your child at the circle or help with a child who is having difficulty sitting
with the group. Some children may need comforting. |
| Projects / Discovery Time |
Both working parents assist the children with the projects for
the day while the teacher is interacting with any children who are at other class
centers, or small groups. After all the children have finished the projects
– project materials are removed from the tables and tables are cleaned to
prepare for snack. The activity parent should interact with the children
in the other class centers and assist the teacher as needed. |
| Clean Up |
Both parents help the children clean up the room. |
| 2nd Circle Time |
The activity parent will stay at the circle to assist the
teacher (as in 1st circle time) while the snack parent sets up snack.
Each child should have a placemat, plate, cup & napkin. Supplies are
found in the white cabinet next to the drying rack. If we are out of
anything it can be found in the file cabinet in the back storage room.
There are parent placemats and each teacher has her own placemat. Set up
tables so that one adult is at each table. |
| Snack Time |
Assist the children in finding their placemat and pushing in
their chairs if needed. Assist as needed with passing food & pouring
drinks. Try to talk with the children and encourage good table manners.
Have each child clear their place setting before they leave the table. |
| Outside Play |
Both parents assist in getting the children ready to play
outside (coats, boots, etc.) While the activity parent goes outside with
the teacher, the snack parent stays inside and starts to clean up after snack.
Tables need to be cleaned and projects setup for the next class. The snack parent
should also fill the children’s tote bags with projects from the day and any
notes from the mailboxes in preparation for dismissal. |
| Dismissal |
Both parents help gather the children’s belongings
(tote bags, show & tell items, coats, etc) and get them ready for dismissal.
The teacher will dismiss to the parents. |
| Both parents stay to cleanup the classroom until
dismissed by the teacher. This normally takes 20-25 minutes after class is over |
