Novi Co-Op is committed to providing a healthy and safe environment for children, families and staff.
Updated 2/22/22
Protective Masks: As of February 28th, Novi Cooperative Preschool will no longer be requiring masks for children, parents, and teachers while indoors or outdoors. However, parents and children may still wear a mask if they feel more comfortable doing so.
Following guidance from CDC and state and county health authorities, we will implement the following additional health and safety measures in response to the novel Coronavirus:
Modified Drop-Off & Pick-Up Procedures: To limit the exposure to germs, only staff and children will be allowed in the classroom. Parents will drop off their child at the entrance to the school and pick up their child at the side exit deck. We ask parents to wear masks and maintain social distancing guidelines.
Health Checks: All staff and children will check their temperature at home, prior to arrival, and complete the health screening questionnaire. We will continue to monitor children throughout the day.
Protective Masks: Teachers are required to wear face masks, except while eating or outside with social distancing. We will ensure your child has the opportunity to see the teacher with and without a face mask. Masks are not required for children ages 2-4, but we do encourage it for those children that can tolerate it. Children who are 5 are required to wear a mask. If your child does wear a mask, please ensure that s/he can remove it without assistance.
Snack: We ask that each parent provide an individual snack for their child, including water instead of our previous family style group snack. Additionally, children will be spaced farther apart.
Limited Group Size: Class size will be kept to 14 children.
Increased Handwashing: Hands will be washed often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If no sink is available, hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol may be used only with adult supervision.
Increased Cleaning & Disinfecting Procedures: The amount of daily toys available will be reduced, rotated, and made of easily sanitized materials. All common areas such as sinks, bathrooms, doorknobs, tabletops, and shared items will undergo a daily deep clean according to CDC guidelines and all other toys will be disinfected daily.
Enforced Illness Policy: The best way to ensure limited exposure to germs is by keeping children at home when they are ill. Please remember to keep your child at home if they display any signs of illness. Children and staff will be excluded from school if: they have or have had any of these symptoms in the last 24 hours: fever (of 100.4 or higher) or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, rash, nausea or vomiting, and /or diarrhea or if they, or a member of the household, have been in close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19.
Novi Co-Op will cooperate with the Oakland County Health Department and follow their guidance regarding any possible exposures or positive test results.
