Your preschooler's main business is play. Through play, children learn. Toys are carefully chosen and designed to help all children develop at their own pace in an atmosphere of love and care. Your child can build with blocks or work with wood at our workbench. Imaginative craft projects are offered daily to improve fine motor skills. A large climber, sand table, puppet theater, housekeeping area, dress-up corner, play-dough, easel painting, books, games and puzzles are also available to aid in learning.
A teacher-directed circle time gives your child a chance to enjoy stories, rhymes, poems, and songs, as well as to practice turn-taking and paying attention. After snack time, children have a chance to go outside and enjoy our playground equipment.  When the weather does not permit outside play, the children enjoy a second group time with music, games, or other large motor skill activities.
Our classroom offers a balance of individual, small group, and large group activities with an emphasis on learning centers. Open-ended projects and activities will be prepared to support varied developmental levels as well as varied learning styles. Curriculum is planned to promote an environment of interaction and cooperation. We encourage children to learn by doing, imitating, observing, exploring, examining, experimenting and questioning during planned activities and experiences.

We are now a Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) provider, which is Michigan's free Pre-K program. By partnering with the Oakland Schools and the State of Michigan, we are able to offer FREE preschool for 4 year old children funded through MiLEAP.

Is the Multi-Age program the right one for your child?

  • Multi-age grouping is a term that refers to grouping children so the age span of the class is larger than one year. Our classroom is designed for 3-5 year olds.
  • Preschoolers have a wide range of developmental differences. Learning is guided by each child's individual developmental readiness and ability, not by his or her age.
  • Multi-age classrooms typically foster a strong sense of community with older children acting as models and mentors for younger children.
  • Younger children benefit from assistance by older children and exposure to advanced social, emotional, physical, and cognitive behavior.
  • Older children benefit from practicing leadership skills and improving cognitive skills through opportunities to reinforce, expand upon, and master knowledge that they share with younger children.
  • Multi-age grouping provides social experiences that encourage nurturing behaviors, independence, leadership roles, responsibility, and patience.
